On April 21, Lillian Ruth Harris was born to Charlie and Ada Gray Harris, in Pitt County, North Carolina.   She is the oldest of nine children and was educated in the Pitt County public school system.  While attending her grandfather’s church in Farmville, N.C.; Mother Moye grew to know and love God at an early age.

In 1963, Mother Moye was united in holy matrimony to Willie Jasper Moye, Sr. and relocated to Stamford, CT. To this union, eight beautiful children were born; Jennifer, Willie Jr., Stephanie, Sharon, Kimberly, Stephen, Chavon and Esther (deceased). Her family was extended with seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mother Moye held various positions in retail; but her most important job was caring for her children.  

Mother Moye gave her life to Christ in 1966 under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Davis at Miracle Faith Church.  In 1970 she joined Little Zion Church of God in Christ, where Bishop I.L. Jefferson served as pastor. She later joined Bibleway Church of God in Christin 1971, where the late Elder William R. McCloud served as pastor.  While attending Bibleway COGIC she taught Sunday School, YPWW, and served as a Sunday School Superintendant.  Mother Moye also served as a Prayer Warrior at street services in Stamford. Under Pastor McCloud’s leadership, Mother Moye embraced God’s word, grew in the Lord, and zealously desired to win souls for Christ. She answered the call to teach and reach, and was soon appointed by Jurisdictional Supervisor, Mother Esther Gorham to serve as a Missionary in the Church of God in Christ.

Mother Moye’s mission was to serve the Lord, leadership, the church, and others.  She was responsible for organizing the Pastor Aid Committee and Pastor Anniversaries at Bibleway COGIC. She also assisted with raising finances for the church by organizing bake sales and dinner sales.  Mother Moye is renowned for her extraordinary baking skills and her delectable soul food.  She also cleaned and cooked for people in need, and visited the sick. 

In 1984, Mother Moye moved to Bridgeport, CT. and was led by the Spirit to join Holy Tabernacle Church of God In Christ in 1985, where the late Bishop Ivory Willis Holden served as pastor. She continued to diligently serve in many capacities at Holy Tabernacleand in the Jurisdiction of Vermont. In addition to the many positions she currently holds, Mother Moye serves as the First Lady of Holy Tabernacle COGIC, the District Missionary of the Living Water District, and the Assistant State Supervisor of the Jurisdiction of Vermont, where she was appointed by General Supervisor, MotherWillie Mae Rivers. Mother Moye has served under the leadership of the late Bishop Jefferson, the late Bishop Charles Brewer Sr.,Bishop Charles Brewer Jr., the late Bishop Ivory W. Holden and currently, Bishop Loran E. Mann.

In addition to serving the church, Mother Moye continues to serve local and foreign communities. Mother Moye has truly exemplified the true meaning of Christianity; at home, at church, and through teaching the gospel. Mother Moye, a woman of courage and faith lives a life that speaks for her; a life that is well pleasing unto God.
